Two important take aways from the 2020 Pandemic: Life can change very quickly and having our usual activities of daily living restricted is not enjoyable. I am hopeful that coming out of this prolonged period of mandatory personal restriction that people will be more understanding of realities of life for persons injured in car accidents or suffering from illnesses.

Notably for most accident victims is the sense of loss associated with everything about their lives changing in the blink of an eye. If only the other driver had been paying attention, it only takes a second for an accident to happen. In addition to the shock there is the inability to ground oneself in routine.

As we who were ready and willing to work, were stopped from working during the pandemic quickly found we would rather be working. Even children who would regularly pray for a snow day wanted to go back to school. Once and for all dispelling the silly notion that people would rather sit around and get paid to do nothing.

Time for us to think about how it must really feel to be unable to work and examine what we think about those people and why we think the way we do. It is not only a good time to review and reset the way we live, it is a good time for us re-evaluate how we as a society treat the disabled and injured.
